Digital Camera Battery Type
Digital Camera Battery
Batteries are the lifeblood of digital camera. And you will be using lot of them. Digital camera comes with two types of battery rechargeable lithium & rechargeable AA.
Lithium – It has the longest life between charges. Batteries that charges in the camera are handiest, since you don’t need an external charger. But if you are going to be away from source of AC for long periods, you will need to carry extra digital camera batteries. These types of camera batteries ( SLB-11A ) are very hard to find and bit expensive. If you use AA batteries then you have more options than Lithium Digital Camera Batteries.
Alkaline – These types of batteries are the most common and least expensive type of standard batteries. However they are not rechargeable, so when there life is over you have to buy new one.
NiCad - NiCad batteries are more expensive than alkalines, but they can be recharged. The disadvantage of NiCads is that they don’t last as long between charges as alkalines do before needing replacement. NiCads can be recharged 50 times or so.
NiMH - NiMH (Nickel metal hydride) last long as alkalines and they are rechargeable. The one drawback with this is their price and they require special type of charger. It can be recharged 100 of times or so.
Another important device which comes with rechargeable batteries is AC Adapter.
Adapter – To recharge the batteries, you plug the camera into an outlet via the AC Adapter and wait a few hours. If your camera uses AA batteries, you may have to buy AC adapter separately.
